Indoor family activities that will help you read the Bible together!

It is cold, and I want to stay indoors!

I dislike hate Winter! That’s right; I said the word HATE!

Living in Canada, winter is a reality that stretches on and on and on, like the energizer bunny without the fluffy cuteness. Month after month of white snow and freezing temperatures can make even the happiest person, well, grumpy!

Unless you love winter sports (I don’t) or have a body that handles the cold well (I was not blessed with that either), winter will be challenging, to say the least.

However, happiness can be (should be, MUST be) cultivated in all circumstances. I stumbled upon this internet meme, and I loved it so much, it has become a quick “pick me up” when the snow outside my window piles on!

Between the necessary physical distancing guidelines, lockdowns or partial lockdowns (the pandemic is still going strong, unfortunately) and the cold weather, it seems like we will be spending more time indoor!

Solution? Indoor family activities!

So, what is a no-outdoor-activity family to do during those long winter months?

Time for some fun indoor activities, sure to beat the winter blues, which will ALSO double up as introductions- refreshers to pivotal Bible stories!

I have compiled a list of activities that will provide many hours of entertainment. I have also included suggestions that tie the activities to specific Biblical passages that you can leverage to turn the activities into wholesome, edifying fun. Indoor Family Activities that will help you read the Bible together = best way to enjoy winter together and grow spiritually as a family!

Building Indoor Forts:

What could be cozier than building our very own “fortified fort” and then filling it with favourite toys, a flashlight, and some books (suggestion: the SuperHolies 😊).

After graduating with a Major in Journalism, Mireille’s career path took an unexpected turn away from her beloved pen and paper. It took an equally unexpected turn of events for Mireille to start writing again. After spending many hours (too many!) watching super hero cartoons with her son, she realized that most Christian children are unaware of their superpowers! She set about creating the SuperHolies: the Fruits of the Holy Spirit re-imagined as superpowers to grab the children’s attention and teach them about their faith and its glory.
